From navigating emergency food programs to tackling procurement challenges, we help simplify access to resources so you can feed more families.
TEFAP is a federally funded program that supplies American-grown USDA foods for eligible low-income individuals and families.
As the California Department of Social Service’s logistics intermediary, CalFoods Logistics will send a catalog of commodities and coordinate and input food bank orders into the federal system.
We receive the commodities for satellite food banks, then manage, store, and plan the deliveries for when they are ready to distribute.
If you are a food bank participating in TEFAP, you are required to follow policies and procedures for program compliance. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) updates the official TEFAP manual and forms throughout the year, so be sure to check that you have the most current versions.
The Food Box Program (FBP) and Drought Food Assistance Program (DFAP) provided state-funded, pre-kitted boxes with no eligibility requirements based on income. Organizations also made purchases of kitted boxes tailored to their needs outside of the 2 programs.
Our team planned healthy menus with colorful fruit and veggies, ready-made entrees with plentiful protein and grains, plus a shelf-stable carton of milk. We also coordinated the deliveries to food banks in our 58 counties for distributions in their service areas.
And if someone received a box but couldn’t cook, many of the items were ready-to-eat (RTE).

Do you need shelf-stable foods, frozen meats, or dairy for a special project? Or is your forklift ready to retire? We'll lend a hand for your food procurement needs and connect you with our vendor partners for equipment and infrastructure support.
People who are food insecure lack consistent access to affordable and nutritious food essential for a healthy and active life. Millions of people in California suffer from the gnawing ache of hunger and the stress of not knowing when their next meal will be.
These harsh realities can be the result of a temporary setback — from a person losing their primary source of income to a family displaced by a natural disaster to a senior facing isolation. Or an ongoing cycle like generational poverty and the rising cost of living.
The daily struggle of hunger is more than an empty plate and hunger pangs. It looks like skipping meals or sending kids to school with empty bellies. The hidden wounds can be deep, including an increased risk of chronic health conditions, impaired cognitive development in children, and mental health issues like depression and anxiety.
But help is around the corner.
